Life drawing Muizenberg – Collaborative First Thursdays Event

Life drawing Muizenberg – Collaborative First Thursdays Event

The cultural exchange event of the first Thursday has been successfully launched throughout Cape Town in 2012 and was intended to be centred around art galleries, retail stores, restaurants and bars. We want to combine this approach with added value to the community of visual artists around the cape peninsula. We are opening opportunity for collaborating by finding inspiration together whilst working in exchange with a life model.

Artist in Residence – Lena Hugo figurative drawings

Lena Hugo seeks to create art exploring the concept of immersing and emerging within the contemporary figure and environment. Throughout her stay she will be reacting to the Displacement title of our prior residency exhibition title. Her personal work involves the depiction of individuals going through physical or emotional displacement, and how it affects their identity and sense of belonging. With her arrival on the 24th of June until her departure on the 15th of August we invite you to follow her work process in form of private studio visits, several events and her final exhibition.

„Conviviality: That just simply means living together, doesn’t it.“

„Conviviality: That just simply means living together, doesn’t it.“

We recently had the pleasure of hosting yet another artist dinner at our single table restaurant here at the admirals residence. It was planned around the intent of investigating forms of living together and apart. „Conviviality: That just simply means living together, doesn’t it.“ Translating experiences into our own beliefs that might be part of what happens if we meet in person, previously foreign meanings emerge from the abstract into the present. Thank you Isobel for pointing out so clearly that we are to actively living the concept of conviviality.

Displacement and Conviviality

Displacement and Conviviality

This event brings together artists, scientists, and other actors from civil society to discuss and envision existing and new forms of conviviality in times of displacement.
On the 25th February 2023 Admirals Artist Residence is hosting an Artist Dinner spotlighting the ins and outs of Displacement and Conviviality. Our featured guest for the evening is Prof. Dr. Peter Dannenberg who will dine with and moderate the event discussion with you.
